Ragdoll Cats
One of the Ragdoll cats most notable features is their beauty.  I feel they are the most gorgeous of all cat breeds.  They strongly resemble the Birman cat, or what is sometimes called the Sacred Cat of Burma.  These cats include the point markings that are so regonizable in the Ragdolls.  The Ragdolls creator, or original breeder, was the late Ann Baker of California.  She closely experimented with several long haired breeds, including a long haired white cat named Josephine.  But most of the cats were feral and of unknown origin.

The Ragdoll is a pointed cat, meaning it has a darker color on its ears, face, legs and tail.  The points may be overlaid with white in the bicolor or mitted patterns.
The traditional colors of the Ragdoll are seal, blue, chocolate and lilac.  The three basic patterns are colorpoint, mitted and bicolor.  A colorpoint pattern has the darker color appearing on all extremeties such as face, ears, tail and legs, with shading on its body as it gets older.  The mitted is similiar, but has white paws and the bicolor has an inverted white "V" marking on its face.

The Ragdoll is a large cat, taking typically 3 years to fully grow.  Its temperment is very laid back and sweet, making it a perfect pet for everyone.  The Ragdoll is recognized in both TICA and CFA registries.  It has achieved championship status in the cat fancy world, but I personally feel it still hasn't quite hit the peak of its popularity.
